Draft South Perth Activity Centre Plan

These proposed modifications are discussed in detail in a report to Council, which was considered in December 2019. The reports on the outcomes of public consultation, and modifications to the draft ACP and Amendment No. 61, are all available on the City’s website.

The ACP will be considered by the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC) with final approval anticipated mid-2021. Amendment No. 61 will be finalised to coincide with the approval of the ACP.

The City has prepared the draft South Perth Activity Centre Plan (ACP) and associated proposed Town Planning Scheme Amendment No. 61 (Amendment No. 61) to set out the long term strategic vision and the statutory planning requirements for development in the area over the next 10 years. The area covered by the draft ACP stretches from the tip of South Perth Peninsula to Richardson Park and Perth Zoo.

Significant changes to the buildings and activity in South Perth have occurred over time and will continue to occur. The draft ACP and proposed Amendment No. 61 provide a proactive approach to manage future development.

The draft ACP and proposed Amendment No. 61 provide a detailed planning framework to guide movement and access, land use and built form within the activity centre. Together, they will shape the development of the area to accommodate projected and required growth to ensure a functioning, sustainable and viable activity centre. Watch the video to find out more.

The City also sought feedback on draft local planning policy (policy P321) which sets out the processes and requirements for undertaking a competitive design process to satisfy design quality requirements in the draft ACP and proposed Amendment No. 61.

How can I get involved?

The City is inviting community feedback on the draft ACP, proposed Amendment No. 61 and Policy P321. These documents are lengthy and complex, so to make it easier to provide feedback we have developed an overview and background document, summary sheets and feedback forms for each of the key elements of the draft ACP and proposed Amendment No. 61. Information on this project that is not distributed by the City cannot be relied upon to be accurate. If you’d like any clarification, please contact the City, ask us a question below or come along to one of the drop in information sessions.

First, please register to participate or sign in if you already have a user account. Please take a moment to check that your user details are up to date, as the City requires certain information to be able to report fully to Council and the WA Planning Commission.

Secondly, take a look at the Overview and Background document which explains the background and development of the documents and how to provide the most useful and constructive feedback.

You are welcome to comment on as many or as few of the key elements as you'd like and none of the questions about the documents are compulsory to answer. Potential development scenarios and explanatory drawings illustrate how the amount of development expected between now and 2041 could be distributed and how the built form requirements in proposed Amendment No. 61 combine to determine the building envelope (the three-dimensional space within which a building can be designed).
