The City of South Perth is excited to announce our first public art commission in Kensington and we want you to get involved. Recent engagement during the development of the City’s first Public Art Masterplan 2022-2025 (PDF, 9.2 MB) highlighted the Kensington community’s interest in having some local public art installed.

The City has engaged renowned Western Australian artist George Domahidy to create a mural for the southern and eastern facades of Moresby Street Hall, which are the sides most visible from Moresby Street Reserve and Douglas Avenue. The design will also extend along the pathways in the Reserve.

This project is funded through a cash-in-lieu contribution from the Como Hotel redevelopment project in 2019.

How can I get involved?

Local residents and users of Moresby Street Hall and Reserve are invited to a fun and family-friendly workshop where George will present his initial concept design and participants can get involved in some hands-on art activities to help develop ideas for the design of the mural. No prior experience is required and all ages can participate. The workshop will take place on:

  • Saturday 11 March, Moresby Street Reserve, 10-11am

Registrations for the workshop have now closed.
