Hi there. Thanks for you question. The original concept design shows the start point being near the skate park where the ground is higher than the surrounding area. While the final design hasn’t yet been completed, it is likely there will be some sort of elevated take off point for the jump track.

If you have any feedback about the concept design, please let us know by completing an online feedback form.

  • Share Please can you confirm that both tracks will be sealed with brown smooth bitumen? I strongly recommend it be sealed. The initial cost of sealing it properly will far outweigh the years of ongoing maintenance of a clay surface. I have seen it for myself that the clay deteriorates quickly and becomes delapidated. People lose respect for it when its in poor condition which leads to further damage. Also it makes it difficult for smaller wheels such and scooters and skateboards to use the tracks. on Facebook Share Please can you confirm that both tracks will be sealed with brown smooth bitumen? Hello and thank you for your feedback. The Manning Bike Track concept design includes a pump track and a jump track. The pump track will be constructed with asphalt and concrete edging in order to extend the life of the track as long as possible. The jump track will be constructed using Polypave, which is sealed, and using concrete inserts for the higher wear sections of the track, again for longevity and durability.

Thanks for your comment. In 2023, the City carried out a Cycling Needs Assessment of George Burnett Park which included community consultation. The consultant developed a report with recommendations based on survey feedback; relevant cycling strategic planning documents; an audit of cycling facilities and infrastructure in South Perth and adjoining local governments; demographic information; and consultation with stakeholders. The report concluded that a criterium circuit and mountain bike circuit were not appropriate at George Burnett Park given the potential conflicts with other park users.

Thanks for your question. The Manning Bike Track concept design includes a pump track and a jump track that can be used by separate users. It is estimated the pump track would accommodate 5-10 users on the track at any one time and is designed to be wide enough so that two riders can pass each other safely. It is estimated that the jump track would accommodate fewer riders than the pump track due to the nature of the track and for rider safety.
