The City is reviewing its Local Planning Policies (LPPs) to align with State Planning Reforms and support implementation of Local Planning Scheme No. 7. The review will ensure the City has an up-to-date planning framework to support good planning outcomes for our community into the future.

The LPP review commenced with Stage one in August 2023 and Stage five concludes the review. The City recognises the need to maintain its suite of local planning policies including preparing, reviewing, amending, and revoking policies where necessary and as such, individual reviews of each LPP will occur as required in response to emerging issues or reform.

The feedback period for Stage five, the draft LPP – Waste Management, has now closed.

What happens next?

Due to the topics addressed in the draft LPP – Waste Management, the draft LPP requires approval from the Western Australian Planning Commission (WAPC). Once approved by the WAPC, the draft LPP will be presented to Council at the next available Ordinary Council Meeting to adopt.
