At the Ordinary Council Meeting on Tuesday 22 October 2024, Council endorsed the Fencing Local Law 2024. Read the Minutes (External link) from the Ordinary Council Meeting. The Fencing Local Law 2024 came into effect on 4 December 2024 and is available on the City’s website southperth.wa.gov.au/local-laws.

The purpose of the proposed local law is to prescribe a sufficient fence and the standard for the construction of fences throughout the district.

The effect of the proposed local law is to establish the minimum requirements for fencing within the district.

    Hi there. Thanks for your question. Approval will be required for a fence where it does not meet the requirements of the local law, i.e. the fencing material is not one of the approved fencing materials or the proposed fence does not meet the requirements of a sufficient fence etc.
