Council endorses Local Planning Strategy
Following extensive community engagement, review and consideration of your comments, the Draft Local Planning Strategy has been adopted by Council. The Draft Local Planning Strategy is the first step to establishing a plan to accommodate future growth in our growing City. The Draft Local Planning Strategy will now set the framework to prepare a new Local Planning Scheme 7.
A number of modifications to the Draft Local Planning Strategy were made to address feedback received from the community, including;
- Measures to ensure the height of future buildings respect existing character;
- Changes to the distribution of future density codings to assist in built-form transition nearby to Canning Highway and Manning Road;
- That future supermarkets should be of an appropriate size for each neighbourhood;
- Modifications to improve the clarity and provide certainty for some of the strategy actions.
The Draft Local Planning Strategy will now be forwarded to the Western Australian Planning Commission for final approval. The City would like to thank all those who made a submission, and provided comment on the Draft Local Planning Strategy that has helped shape its final form.
