Welcome to the Connect South Ideas Space

Create a pedestrian zone for all Mends street - a beautiful tree lined area with under-planted gardens, may be a fountain where people can use the green space for picnics, connecting with each other enjoying restaurants and cafes / small bars. It could be become a meeting place for people and a venue for small gatherings with a tranquil, welcoming feel - an oasis for the city which opens out onto the foreshore and its magnificent views. A pedestrian area would enable all people to access the site as it should be all on the level and remove the danger and pollution of so many passing cars. It will encourage people to use the area and stay longer because it is beautiful and relaxing and encourage a variety of people as it will have bars / cafes but also areas for families to picnic and relax together. Create an underground carpark to cater for vehicles but don't charge too much - you want people to stay

Create an oasis in the city -a  beautiful tree lined pedestrian area with gardens, grassed area and seating
