Draft Local Planning Policy P362 Canning Bridge Design Review Panel
The feedback period has now closed. The City did not receive any comments.
The City is currently reviewing its local planning policies to support future draft Local Planning Scheme No 7. As part of this process, draft Policy P362 Canning Bridge Design Review Panel is proposed to be incorporated into Policy P303 Design Review Panel, providing a single policy for the City of South Perth. These changes will be presented to Council for advertising in the future.
The Canning Bridge Design Review Panel (CBDRP) has been in operation since 2016 and was established by the Cities of Melville and South Perth to provide independent expert design advice on development applications for land within the boundaries of the Canning Bridge Activity Centre Plan (CBACP).
The CBDRP is currently operating under the provisions of a Management Practice, which is an internal City of South Perth document. Whilst the CBDRP has been operating successfully in this way since 2016, inconsistencies have been noted in the way that comments from the CBDRP are reported.
To address this matter a draft local planning policy has been prepared.
The Canning Bridge Design Review Panel Policy (PDF, 224 KB) is intended to provide guidance on the operation of the CBDRP. The policy seeks to ensure that there is greater transparency in the comments provided by the CBDRP members and that these comments are reported in a more consistent manner.
The draft policy incorporates aspects of the current Management Practice and aligns the template for reporting comments, feedback and recommendations with Local Planning Policy P303 Design Review Panel, which applies to developments outside of the Canning Bridge Activity Centre.
