These are the most extensive wetlands in the lower reaches of the Swan and Canning Rivers and there is no similar foreshore vegetation elsewhere along these rivers.
Consultation for stage one of the masterplanning process has now commenced, with community members invited to contribute their ideas by completing a survey on the City’s online engagement portal Your Say South Perth, between Monday 6 November and Monday 4 December 2017.
Additionally, a public forum is to be held from 10am to 3pm on Saturday 25 November 2017 at the Manning Community Hall. The purpose of the forum is to bring together community members, Councillors and City officers, as well as those interested in the waterways of the metropolitan area for an open exchange and sharing of knowledge and ideas about the CWSP Foreshore. At the end of stage one, a concept plan will be developed as the foundation for the masterplan.
“This precious expanse of foreshore encompasses natural wetlands, wide open spaces for leisure and recreation activities, sites of significant aboriginal heritage and stunning river views. It is vital that the City plans sustainably for the long-term future of this beautiful area to ensure that today’s and future generations can enjoy this natural environment,” City of South Perth Mayor Sue Doherty said.
“There are a range of ways for the community to have their voice listened to, and contribute throughout the masterplanning process. I encourage everyone to complete the survey and if you have the interest and time to attend the forum at Manning Community Hall.”
Join the conversation at Your Say South Perth. Alternatively, hard copies of the survey will be made available at City venues including the Civic Centre and South Perth Libraries.
