Draft Amendment No. 56 – Civic Site

The City seeks public comments on draft Amendment No. 56 to Town Planning Scheme No. 6, relating to the land identified as the ‘Civic Site’ being that bound by Mill Point Road, Mends Street and Labouchere Road.

The amendment seeks to apply a Special Control Area to facilitate and control the re-development of the Civic Site. The Special Control Area is proposed to apply only to the Civic Site, in acknowledgement of the site’s unique characteristics and the City’s desire to promote a landmark mixed used development at the heart of the South Perth Station Precinct.

The draft amendment introduces new provisions into Town Planning Scheme No. 6 which, amongst other things, control the sites development in terms of tower height, scale of podiums, land use, vehicle and bicycle parking and traffic management, the pedestrian environment, heritage protection, design quality, public and occupier benefit.

Your comments are sought on the draft amendment and the draft amendment documents are available for viewing at the City’s libraries and Civic Centre during opening hours. throughout the submission period. The submission period closed 5pm, Tuesday 16 January 2018. Any comments should be submitted one of the following ways:

  • Through the online feedback form (preferred)
  • By email to feedback@southperth.wa.gov.au with reference to ‘amendment 56’ noted in the email subject,
  • By mail, addressed to the Chief Executive Officer, City of South Perth Cnr Sandgate St & South Tce, South Perth WA 6151.

Note: The modified scheme amendment documents included in the 'Document Library' incorporate modifications made to the original amendment proposal, as resolved by the City of South Perth at it's meeting 22 August 2017, and by the Western Australian Planning Commission (prior to advertising).

    Your submission should include:

    • comments either supporting or opposing the proposals, or suggesting particular ways in which you believe that the draft Amendment should be modified;  
    • your name and postal address, to enable the City to respond to your submission and update you periodically on the progress of the Amendment; and
    • the address of any other property owned by you which is affected by the proposal.
