Consultation has concluded

The City of South Perth has commissioned a large scale mural to enhance the front facade of Collins Street Centre, which will provide an attractive and vibrant entrance to this popular community venue.

The City engaged contemporary visual artist Simon Degroot to work with interested community members to develop ideas for the design of the mural that are creative, unique and appropriate for the area.

Regular users of the Centre and neighbouring residents joined Simon at an interactive workshop on 19 October to develop initial ideas and designs for the mural. Following the workshop and submission of photos by members of the community, Simon created a concept design with two colour scheme options which were displayed on Saturday 11 November at the Centre. The City ran an online survey at the same time to find out the preferred colour scheme and gain community feedback on the design.

Out of almost 80 responses received, more than two thirds chose Option 2 as their preferred colour scheme, so the City proceeded with Option 2 with some minor modifications to the design based on community feedback.

Over the past week, the artist has completed the mural at the Collins Street Centre.

Thank you to everyone who provided their feedback as part of the project.
