Why is this project happening?
The City is planning to activate public places with initiatives and infrastructure which aim to stimulate and enhance community wellbeing and economic development across all of the City’s commercial, foreshore and open space precincts.
Moresby Street Local Centre has been selected for activation and infrastructure initiatives.
How is this project being funded?
The draft designs for Moresby Street Local Centre are subject to funding through the City's budget process for financial year 2025/26.
What are the next steps?
All feedback will be analysed and the draft designs revised as required. The City will finalise the designs ready for implementation once funding has been confirmed
Will street trees be affected?
Existing street trees will not be removed as part of this project. As indicated in the draft designs, additional street trees are planned along Moresby Street.
Will street parking be affected?
There is not expected to be any reduction in parking along Moresby Street as a result of the upgrades. There will be requirement to the close the car bays closest to the shops during construction.
When will the upgrades take place?
The City will finalise the designs following consultation, with upgrades expected to commence in 2026, subject to funding and contractor availability.
