What are local planning policies?

Local Planning Policies (LPPs) are used to assist local governments in making planning decisions under the local planning scheme by outlining acceptable development standards and establishing clear expectations to applicants on how local governments are likely to exercise discretion.

    What are provisions?

Provisions are development requirements outlined in the LPP.

Why is the City reviewing Local Planning Policy 2.4 Child Care Premises?

The City is reviewing its Local Planning Policy 2.4 - Child Care Premises to ensure:

    • it is consistent with the State Planning Framework including the revised draft Position Statement: Child Care Premises from the Department of Planning, Lands and Heritage (April 2025)
    • it is contemporary, up to date and best placed to support good planning outcomes
    • it reflects the aspirations of the community on planning related matters
    • it aligns with LPS 7.

Where can I find the City's local planning policies?

The City’s suite of LPPs is available on the City’s website (External link).

What are the consultation requirements for LPPs?

The consultation requirements for LPPs are set out in the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015 and the City's Local Planning Policy - Advertising of Planning Proposals. New LPPs and major amendments to existing LPPs are required to be advertised for a minimum of 21 days. Consultation is not required for minor amendments to LPPs or LPPs that are revoked by Council.

How can I ask questions about amendments to Local Planning Policy 2.4 - Child Care Premises?

How can I provide my feedback?

You can provide your feedback by completing the online feedback form. Hard copy feedback forms are available at the Civic Centre and South Perth and Manning libraries.

Information and documents on this page are available in alternative formats upon request. Please contact the City on 9474 0777 or make a request on the City's website (External link) for assistance, including help with providing your feedback.

What will happen with my feedback?
