Following stakeholder and community engagement in September 2025, we’re pleased to inform you that installation work is due to start on the play space upgrade shortly – view the indicative design.

The indicative play space design is based on the feedback received, the City’s Play Space Plan, industry guidelines, and other considerations such as budget.

Existing playground

The playground equipment will be replaced by a new play structure which includes both physical and social play elements.

• Physical play: spiral slide, two-swing set with accessible swing seat, monkey bars, vertical rock wall, cable rope climber, sway bridge, and fresh sand softfall enabling children to dig and build.
• Social play: a shop panel, noughts and crosses, a horizontal abacus, binoculars and a steering wheel.

A new shade sail will also be installed over the existing playground area.

New shelter and seating

Following feedback during the engagement, a new shelter with seating will be installed on the grass area near the path, south of the playground and basketball/netball area.

New playground area with activity cube

The City investigated the possibility of installing a rock climbing wall structure (also known as a bouldering pillar), however some concerns were raised in the feedback received that this type of wall could block views between the large, grassed area and the playground.

Instead, an exciting activity cube will be installed south of the new shelter and seating, which will provide a range of climbing opportunities for older children. The cube features a full-height (2.5m) vertical rock wall, ladder rungs, a suspended climbing system and a cargo net.

Existing basketball/netball area

The City investigated the possible noise-reducing measures relating to the basketball/netball area. Feedback from other local government areas suggested that noise-reducing tiles were not durable and required ongoing and expensive maintenance. As a result, the City will repair the cracked concrete, pressure clean the court, and repaint the line markings.

The City will renew the sports equipment and install a sound-deadening backboard to the new basketball hoop. A new netball pole and ring will complete the upgrade to the basketball/netball area.
