The City is required to review all of its policies annually, to ensure they remain up to date. From time to time amendments are required to policies in response to changes in other government policy (for example the Residential Design Codes) or other factors. Only planning policies that are amended will be advertised for community comment.
For details of the changes made to the policies, please refer to the March 2016 Council meeting minutes, available at
Policies are reviewed during the year, before being presented to a Council meeting. Reviews took place in January and were presented to Council in March 2016.
The City reviews all of its policies on an annual basis in accordance with the Local Government Act 1995. Only Planning Policies will go out for public consultation in accordance with City Policy P301 and the Planning and Development (Local Planning Schemes) Regulations 2015.
What happens to the public submissions once the feedback period closes?
The City’s planning staff will prepare a report addressing each issue raised in the submissions and recommending to Council whether the draft policy should be modified as a result. Council will then consider the submissions and any recommended changes to the draft policy before deciding to adopt the policy.
