The City is seeking feedback on draft modified local planning policy P350.03- Setback of garages and carports, garage width, design of car parking spaces and vehicle access’.
Policy P350.03 provides the criteria for the design of car parking spaces and structures for residential development. The existing policy has been reviewed to align with the Residential Design Codes, the City’s Town Planning Scheme No. 6 and to provide modified criteria for the assessment of applications involving the use of car-stacking equipment for vehicle parking.
The key modification made to the policy is to ensure that a minimum proportion of vehicle bays on a site are provided free of the assistance and/or reliance on mechanical car-stacking equipment at any time. This is to afford future residents the ability to choose between mechanically stacked car bays or typical hard-stand bays.
A significant number of modifications have been made to the policy to ensure alignment with the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes); particularly in regards to the setting back of car parking structures. A number of criteria have been deleted from P350.03 (or augmented into new criteria) because they conflict with the R-Codes.
