The Connect South Masterplan Concept Design is a short, medium and long term vision for the area, which includes Mends Street (north and south), Mends Street foreshore, Windsor Park and Harper Terrace.

The main focus for the first stage of the Connect South project includes the development of a Piazza on the Mends Street foreshore and minor upgrades to the north end of Mends Street, which will be completed by December 2019 at a cost of $7.5 million (with $2.5 million from a National Stronger Regions Fund grant and $5 million from the City of South Perth). Connect South includes Node 1: Mends Street, as identified in the South Perth Foreshore Management Plan 2015. Visit the FAQs for more information on the history of the project.

Connect South - full steam ahead with Stage One

Following Council’s endorsement of the Connect South Masterplan Concept Design at the 24 April 2018 meeting, the City is preparing detailed designs for the Stage One works, which include the development of a Piazza on the Mends Street foreshore and minor upgrades to Mends Street North.

As part of the Council endorsement, further consideration was given to the Bosque area, with consultation with key stakeholders and Council resulting in additional view corridors and vistas added to the concept design, shown in the revised 3D images of views.

The Connect South Stage One improvements and upgrades have been designed following extensive stakeholder and community engagement and will be completed by December 2019, at a cost of $7.5 million with $2.5 million from a National Stronger Regions Fund (Round Three) grant and $5 million from the City of South Perth.

The City received 101 completed feedback forms on the Connect South Masterplan Concept Design at the end of 2017 which were used to inform the revised Concept Design.

This feedback has been presented in the document Connect South Masterplan Concept Design - Community and stakeholder feedback, along with responses from the City.

Thanks to everyone who has taken part in the Connect South engagement to date.
