Consultation has concluded
Towards the end of 2017, the City sought feedback on concepts for the upgrade to the southern section of Olives Reserve in Como.
Thank you to all those who attended the drop-in feedback and information session August 2017 and also to those who completed the feedback form.
The feedback was considered and a Stakeholder Engagement Summary Report has been produced.
Next steps
A budget of $650,000 for the first stage of works at Olives Reserve was approved by Council for this financial year. The works include:
- Dog exercise equipment and facilities, including dog agility equipment, low turf mounds, bins with dog bags and regulatory dog signage
- Installation of low black chainmesh barrier fencing for safety along the car park entry drive and dog exercise area
- Improved access with a new path connecting to existing footpaths
- Irrigation system replacement upgrade, hydro zoned areas and new garden beds
- Planting of low height, waterwise native species in the park and along the boundary with the freeway for screening
- Removal of poplar trees on the freeway boundary
- Planting of trees to improve shade while maintaining river vistas
- Drink fountain with dog bowls
- Improved grass area with new irrigated turf
- Seating, including bench seats directly accessible from the path
- Shaded areas for sitting, relaxing and enjoying the riverside amenity of the park
In the northern end of the reserve, there will also be an irrigation system upgrade, as well as upgrades to the existing garden beds.
The works are due to commence in May 2019.
