Karawara Community Vision project principles

The City is currently looking for your feedback on the upgrades to playground and public open space in Karawara. This project involves the installation of new play equipment, path and facility upgrades - including shade and seating in the central area of the Kwel Court Reserve.

These upgrades are part of the City's Karawara Public Open Space Master Plan and Collaborative Action Plan (KMPCAP) that contains 14 projects that aim to ‘strengthen Karawara’s public open space and community character’. The improvement to the central playground at Kwel Court Reserve and meeting area is listed as 'project 2' in the Karawara Masterplan.

The pocket park, located south of the Gowrie Centre, will include new vegetation and paths linking to Walanna Drive’s footpaths, new picnic area with tables, bench seating, bins and drinking fountain.

Kwel Court Reserve Upgrade

The City is currently seeking your feedback on upgrades to the area including:

  • A new playground/play equipment will cater for 1-12+ years olds, with new 0-8 year equipment in the existing sandpit.
  • New sandpits and play equipment with shade sails, swings, slides, climbing and spinning equipment.
  • A new central seating/meeting area will be installed and all exisiting trees and paths are to be retained.
  • New trees will be planted to provide shade to the playground and central seating area and low water-wise garden beds will be planted to increase biodiversity and improve amenity.

The concept designs have developed from a collaboration of feedback received from stakeholders in the initial Karawara Masterplan consultation, City staff and playground suppliers.

Now the City is seeking further input and feedback from community and stakeholders.
